The Client
The client was Viacom18 Media Pvt. Ltd., which is a rapidly expanding entertainment network in India. A joint venture of Network18 (51%) and ViacomCBS (49%), Viacom18 engages with its audience through various channels, including, on-air, online, on-ground, in-shop and cinema, shaping the entertainment landscape in India.
We partnered with VOOT, an Indian subscription-based video on-demand and over-the-top streaming service owned by Viacom18.
The Challenge
The participants included Senior Directors, Directors, Marketing Managers, Brand Managers and the likes, however the team faced immense challenges in promoting their offering digitally and struggled to make the business grow.
Since most of the participants came from a broadcast sales background, they had limited understanding of the digital media platforms, making it challenging for them to effectively promote digital offers such as VOOT.
Effective digital advertising is the key to target the right audience with the right ad formats. One must also know the key metrics and optimise the campaigns for better ROI. As the team was less familiar with the platforms itself, they had even less understanding about the ads.
During their pitches the team faced difficulty conveying the value proposition clearly and faced challenges in giving satisfactory reply to the objections from the clients.

Before delving straight into the issue, Digital Vidya first conducted a pre-training survey to gauge the level of understanding of the team. This was a prerequisite for effectively formulating the objectives of the workshop and to do the necessary expectation management. Once the ground work was done, the dynamic workshop was scheduled.
What Did the Workshop Do
Right from common industry terminologies like ROAS, CPA, etc. to types of targeting, the VOOT team was taken through the necessary nitty-gritties to ensure all the participants were on the same page.
Right from paid advertising to video marketing and from programmatic advertising to mobile marketing, the workshop covered all. The workshop also discussed media planning that would help in devising different strategies and tactics in different campaigns for driving better results.
The workshop was instrumental in developing a deeper understanding of the digital media landscape from a media perspective. Participants also gained insights into the agency/client ecosystem, including how media agencies work and how they interact with clients.
