The Client

The client was Facebook, which is a social media platform that allows users to connect and share content with others. With over 2.8 billion monthly active users as of 2021, Facebook has become a powerful tool for social causes and activism, with various initiatives aimed at promoting social good.

One such initiative was the blood donation drive in India, which was launched by Facebook in partnership with various NGOs and blood banks. The goal of the initiative was to encourage people to donate blood and help increase the availability of blood for patients in need.

The Challenge

For the initiative to be successful, Facebook needed the support of numerous hospitals and blood banks. One of the major challenges before Facebook faced in making the blood donation campaign successful was creating digital footprints for blood banks and hospitals. This involved educating these organisations on how to use the platform effectively and most importantly how to create content for the posts and reach willing donors. Many of these organisations lacked digital expertise, and had to be given the necessary training and tools to participate in the campaign.

For More Customized Programs

Solutions

Digital Vidya created a program designed for Medical Officers, Lab Technicians, Staff Nurses, and Technical Supervisors. To ensure the process was both efficient and effective, a 1-hour module was devised, consisting of 45 minutes of lectures and 15 minutes of in-person and webinar-based Q&A. Over 50 workshops were conducted, making the participants self-sufficient in running the program.

How We Helped

Explained the Benefits

The first part of the workshop was to explain the initiative of Facebook and how it can revolutionise the process of acquiring willing donors and ensure a steady supply of blood and alleviate the stress and difficulties faced by patients and their families in times of need.

Created Digital Footprints

Next we activated the blood banks and hospitals by creating digital footprints for them. This involved registering them on the platform, creating their pages, and providing them with the necessary tools to create posts. An active online presence meant that blood banks and hospitals could more effectively reach out to potential donors and contribute to the success of the campaign.

Did Hand-Holding for 60 Days

To further support the blood banks registered on the platform, we established a dedicated team of counselors to provide assistance via phone. Additionally, a WhatsApp group was created to guide them for 60 days, addressing any day-to-day queries and providing relevant content to post on the platform during this period.

Created Product Videos

In order to facilitate continuous learning, we created short product and feature videos. These videos aimed to enhance the overall experience of the users and ensure the continued success of the campaign.

Value Delivered

The workshops delivered to the expectation and Digital Vidya helped Facebook onboard almost 1000+ blood banks and hospitals in India, across ten different states including Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Gujarat and Assam.
