As i mentioned in blog, choose only high DA/PA directories. If you want to do local SEO, there are some high quality directories exist like Yellow Pages, Grotal, Hotfrog and map quest.
I agree that SEO strategy has changed now and directories are valuable if used carefully and specially for local seo.
